Henderson 'perfect' for Arsenal as Pearce shares Liverpool talks news - Campbell

Jordan Henderson is perfect for Arsenal – he would give them the leadership that they have long been crying out for.

So says ex-Gunners hitman Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 31-year-old Liverpool skipper.

The Athletic‘s James Pearce reported on 19th July that ‘no real progress’ has been made in talks with Henderson over a new contract.

The 61-cap England man has two years remaining on his current Anfield deal and has been with the club for over a decade.

Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are both reported to be monitoring Henderson’s contract situation with interest.

And Campbell insists that the midfielder would be a hugely welcome addition to a squad bereft of leadership at the Emirates.

“He’d be perfect, 100 per cent,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“On the podcast [Highbury Squad], we asked the fans whether they would rather sign Henderson or Renato Sanchez, and they all went for Sanchez.

“But we are always moaning about a lack of leadership. Jordan Henderson is there, he’s got all the leadership qualities you could ever want in a captain.

“And yet they still went for Sanchez. Henderson at Arsenal would be fantastic, there is no doubt in my mind about that at all.”

Henderson has featured 392 times for Liverpool since signing from Sunderland in 2011.

He made 28 appearances in total last season as Liverpool surrendered the Premier League title to Man City.
