Liverpool star set to dodge three-match ban with FA loophole
Liverpool star Adam Lallana could still be set to play for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool first team, as an FA loophole allows him to dodge the red card received in an under-23’s match.
The England international saw red during a Premier League Two matchup, and after a coming together with George Marsh, threw his arms around the Spurs youngster’s neck in anger.
Lallana saw a straight red card for the incident, and had to be pulled away by Danny Ings as the red mist came down.
However, Lallana’s antics will not see him miss out on any first team action in the Premier League, as his ban will only apply to under-23’s matches.
This means that the 29-year-old could be up for selection for this weekend’s fixture against Southampton FC.
Lallana is lucky, having just come back from injury the last thing he could have wanted was to miss time through suspension, especially with the World Cup so close.
Klopp will be pleased, as the aditional mid-week game versus Porto in the Champions League next week means that he will have to rotate his squad to maintain fitness levels, and Lallana could see game time this way.
