Darren Bent believes Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri will leave England when the summer transfer window opens.
The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he cannot see a Premier League side signing the 28-year-old if he is to leave Anfield at the end of the season.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, Spanish side Sevilla are plotting on submitting a formal bid for the Switzerland international, while there is also interest from Roma and CSKA Moscow.
As previously detailed by Football Insider, the Reds are looking to make a £15million profit on Shaqiri this summer with a £28million price tag on his head.
While Bent is not sure exactly who the Swiss star might sign for, he is almost certain he will not be playing in England next season.
Asked where he thought Shaqiri could end up, Bent told Football Insider: “Hmm, where can I see him ending up? I’m not even sure where I can see him ending up.
“Whoever takes him, for some reason I can only see him going abroad now. I can’t see him staying in the English Premier League any more.
“Who knows, but somewhere decent of course. The one thing we can say about him, he has got ability.”
Shaqiri has a total of 114 Premier League appearances under his belt for both Liverpool and Stoke.
After featuring 30 times for the Reds last season, Jurgen Klopp has played him just 10 times this campaign, his only goal coming in the 5-2 win over Everton.
In other Liverpool news, Klopp has told Michael Edwards to get done a massive deal that is now his ‘number one’ summer priority.
