Liverpool stars handed 'big' new 'boost' after perfect development - Mills
Jurgen Klopp has handed his Liverpool stars a “big boost” at the perfect time by signing a new contract, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back insisted Klopp is still only “two disastrous” seasons from the sack at Liverpool.
The Reds confirmed on Thursday (28 April) that the 54-year-old has signed a new four-year deal at Anfield.
It comes amid his side’s bid for a historic quadruple and Mills has suggested the timing is no coincidence.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “The timing is probably aimed at giving the whole squad a big boost.
“I’m guessing these talks have been going on for four or five months. This is not something that comes about a few days before when they ask ‘Jurgen will you sign a new contract?’ And he says ‘Oh, go on then’ and it’s done and dusted.

“When you’ve got a little bit of speculation around other players’ contracts, Mane and Salah, to announce Klopp’s contract and to say ‘He’s the man’, it gives everyone a bit of comfort.
“For those players, they think ‘Oh he’s going to be here, we can plan’ and if they are not going to be there then there is still a plan and it settles down the fans.
“Why wouldn’t you sign him up? He’s an exceptional manager.
“But remember, managers can be sacked. It only takes two disastrous seasons and he will be out. Simple as that.
“I don’t envisage that happening in any way shape or form but it’s much easier to tie down a manager because you can always get rid of them with six months or a year’s pay-off.”
