Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could soon be on his way out of Anfield to AS Roma, should the Italians sell forward Edin Dzeko to Chelsea, according to a report.
The Daily Star revealed that the Liverpool frontman is wanted by the Serie A giants as they look to bolster their attacking options, should the Bosnian return to the Premier League.
Sturridge has seen himself fall out of favour with the Merseyside club after a host of injuries saw him fall down the pecking order at Anfield.
The 28-year-old moved to the Reds from Chelsea in 2013 and in his first full season he scored 24 goals in 33 appearances.
Football Insider verdict:
Sturridge needs a move and he needs it to be now if he is going to get any consideration for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup finals in Russia this summer. If he does not get a move now then he has no chance of getting the game time he needs at Liverpool. The 28-year-old continues to be one of the best finishers in English football and it is a disappointment to see how his career has floundered under Jurgen Klopp. Sturridge can come across as a lazy player on the pitch and has been accused of failing to track back and help out his teammates. But it’s the injuries that have really hurt him the most and cost him any chance of glory at Anfield.
