Jurgen Klopp has told Liverpool’s American owners he wants to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to a report.
Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim that talks have begun between the Merseyside and Spanish giants over a loan-to-buy deal for the 21-year-old Spaniard.
It is said that Klopp has informed the Boston-based board of Liverpool, who are owned by Fenway Sports Group, that “I love Dani Ceballos” as he looks to reinforce his team’s midfield in the summer window.
Diario Goal report that the chances of the former Spain Under-21 international being at Anfield next season are increasing as he is frustrated at being on the fringes under Zinedine Zidane.
A deal has been mooted in which Ceballos joins Liverpool on an initial season-long loan that includes an option for a permanent deal if he his certain targets.
Former Real Betis player Ceballos has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Champions League holders this season but has found himself behind the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the central midfield pecking order.
In other Liverpool transfer news, the Merseyside giants are convinced that £70,000-a-week Tottenham player wants to join them this summer in what would be a mega-money and sensational deal.
