Liverpool tipped to 'pull the trigger' on '£50m+' signing after striker news - pundit
Liverpool could make a “big signing” this summer but it won’t be because of Man City’s actions in the transfer market.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Man City confirmed the signing of Erling Haaland.
Man City confirmed on Tuesday (10 May) that they have “reached an agreement in principle” with Dortmund for the 21-year-old.
Man City sit three points ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League table.
Kenny claims Liverpool could respond with a big-money signing of their own as they look to keep pace with their rivals over the coming years.
“Liverpool are always looking to strengthen,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They did it in January and made the unbelievable signing of Luis Diaz. So it’s about pulling the trigger on the right signing.
“If Liverpool are going to make a big signing this summer and spend more than £50million then it won’t be because Man City signed Haaland.
“They will do it because it is what they need to do to improve. Their squad is getting a bit older and key players will need to be replaced.
“Spending money is the only way to stay at the top and Liverpool will do that regardless of what City do.”
Haaland has scored 85 goals in 88 total appearances since joining Dortmund in January 2020.
City have operated without an out and out striker this season after failing to sign Harry Kane in the summer of 2021.
