Liverpool told to seal 'fabulous' Nicolo Barella deal after Jurgen Klopp stance reported - pundit

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella amid reported interest from Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the 25-year-old is “a fabulous player” who would be an asset to Jurgen Klopp next season.

According to Calcio Mercato (19 June), the Reds would be willing to offer Naby Keita in part-exchange for Barella this summer.

Klopp is said to be a big admirer of the centre-midfielder, who helped Italy win Euro 2020 last year.

Barella has four years remaining on his contract with the Serie A giants.

When asked by Football Insider if Barella would be a welcome addition at Anfield next season, Campbell said: “Barella is a fabulous player.

“It would be smart if Liverpool do that deal, especially if they lose Alex [Oxlade-Chamberlain].

“They will need reinforcements. They have to make sure their squad is deep enough to combat injuries.

“Barella is a very good player. If they could do that business it would certainly strengthen them.

“Listen, if you look at last season Liverpool played in every game that they could. That means there is minutes for everybody and there certainly would be for a player like Barella.

“Jurgen Klopp needs to be able to utilise a big squad.”

Barella contributed four goals and 13 assist in 47 appearances across all competitions last season.

The midfielder has 39 caps for Italy.
