Liverpool are plotting a move to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo as Arne Slot aims to improve his wide options in the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 24-year-old's availability has placed a number of clubs on alert.

His winning experience as a regular under Carlo Ancelotti is seen as a key asset, but a move will depend on whether they deem his lofty price tag good value for money.

This comes after Football Insider revealed Arsenal could be deterred from signing Rodrygo after learning of Madrid's £85million demand.

The Brazil international has made 267 appearances for Los Blancos, scored 68 goals and provided 50 assists, but could now look to move on.

Liverpool made a move to sign Rodrygo as a 16-year-old before his move to Madrid, and could now be prepared to reignite that interest this summer.

Liverpool plot Rodrygo swoop after Arne Slot decision

Brown told Football Insider in February that Liverpool want to sign a world-class forward to replace Luis Diaz amid speculation about their attacking players' futures.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Rodrygo has emerged on their list of targets for the position.

"Liverpool have five or six players who can all play up front at the moment," he told Football Insider.

"But from what I hear, Slot isn't happy with the options he's got.

"Salah has signed his deal and he's going to be there, but they want a top-class centre-forward and a new wide left player.

"They've been looking at a few options, and one of those is Rodrygo.

"He's been a regular for Real Madrid for the last few years which is a testament to his quality.

"Plus, he has that winning experience you get from playing for a club like that.

"There's been a bit of talk he could be allowed to leave, so clubs like Liverpool are going to be on high alert if he's the one they want to sign.

"He's still only young as well, so he fits in to the direction Liverpool want to go.

"A lot of it will depend on whether they decide he's worth the price tag Real Madrid are going to put on him, because they don't let players go easily."

Alexis Mac Allister update emerges after Real Madrid latest

Speculation about transfers surrounding both Liverpool and Real Madrid have been a constant theme in recent months as a result of Trent Alexander-Arnold's move.

However, Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool will block Alexis Mac Allister's exit amid interest from the Spanish giants after Carlo Ancelotti's departure.

Liverpool have no intention of letting the 26-year-old leave as Slot is not prepared to weaken his squad after winning the Premier League.

This comes after Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid has forced them into the transfer market to look for a replacement at right-back.
