Liverpool working on two midfield goal machine deals, one on verge of agreement - report

Liverpool are on the verge of striking an agreement to sign Norwich midfielder James Maddison in the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Reliable Liverpool fan side Anfield Edition claims that Maddison, 21, expects to be part of Jurgen Klopp’s squad for next season alongside one of his best friends in Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Attacking midfielder Maddison has made 47 appearances in all competitions for Norwich this season, scoring 15 goals in the process.

He is not the only midfield goal machine that Liverpool are working on signing though as it is also understood the Premier League giants are in talks with the representatives of Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon.

Sessegnon, 17, has been in stunning form for the Cottagers this term, scoring 14 goals in 46 appearances across all competition from the wide-midfield area, as well as at left-back.

Tottenham and Manchester United are said to be chasing Sessegnon, but Anfield Edition reports that Liverpool are in pole position.

Football Insider verdict

Klopp would be making two excellent signings in Maddison and Sessegnon. They are the two best young English talents in the Championship and they are bound to be hits in the Premier League in the near future. Both may have to take a year or two of sitting on the sidelines more than they are used to, but Klopp should be rotating his squad enough to give them plenty of experience in the top-flight and in the Champions League. Liverpool have always been a great club for developing young English players and Klopp is the right man to do that.
