Liverpool could soon be set to sign Adam Wharton as one of the top UK bookmakers slashes his odds on a move to Merseyside.

Crystal Palace star Wharton has been heavily linked with a move away from the club over the last 12 months as he shines in South London.

He is believed to be on the radar of several top clubs across Europe right now, but talk of a transfer has quietened since the end of last season.

Wharton will have been left disappointed to have missed out on England's World Cup squad this summer, as Thomas Tuchel picked the likes of Jordan Henderson and Kobbie Mainoo instead.

His future remains up in the air this summer, however, as several bigger sides mix up their midfield options ahead of the new campaign.

Liverpool are one of the clubs closely linked to his services over the last year, and they are now being backed to get a deal done before the end of the window.

Liverpool see odds tumble on chances of signing Adam Wharton this summer

New Reds manager Andoni Iraola is reviewing his squad and potential next moves following his appointment at Anfield.

Liverpool are yet to invest heavily after his arrival this summer, with Osasuna winger Victor Munoz their only senior signing so far.

The likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones have been linked with respective moves away, however, with midfield options being considered to potentially replace both players in Iraola's squad.

Wharton looks to be moving closer to Merseyside, after a top UK bookmaker slashed his odds to join Liverpool this summer to 2/1.

They are now the joint-favourites to land his services alongside Chelsea, while Palace are still being backed to keep him at 4/6 odds to be his club after the summer window.

What has Steve Parish said about selling Wharton?

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Chelsea are confident of beating their rivals to Wharton's signature this summer.

He recently missed Palace's pre-season friendly against Swindon Town, and new reports have claimed that he will not travel with his teammates to face Como as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

Eagles chairman Parish has made it clear that the club will not be forced into selling their star midfielder anytime soon in an interview on talkSPORT.

He said: “The fact of the matter is he's got a long contract to run. There's no pressure on us to do it, and I don't think there's any real pressure from the player either.

“I think Adam at some point will want to play either in the Champions League with us, if we can make that happen, or probably with another club. He's an extraordinary talent. I think right now, and I can't speak for Adam, but I think he's focused on his time at Crystal Palace. I think he's very committed to the club."
