Liverpool are closely monitoring Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola and could make a move despite his club's stance, sources have told Football Insider.

The Champions League winners are extremely reluctant to lose the 23-year-old this summer, despite growing interest, but their resolve could be tested.

He has enjoyed a standout World Cup campaign so far with France, which has heightened the interest in his signature, and Liverpool are now considering making a move.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Liverpool could now be tempted to step up their interest after missing out on Yan Diomande.

The RB Leipzig winger is currently considered unlikely to leave the Bundesliga outfit, but should he engineer a move away, PSG would be his preferred destination.

Liverpool viewed Diomande as their number-one target, but having seemingly missed out, could now look to tempt Barcola away with the offer of regular first-team football.

Could Liverpool make a move for Bradley Barcola?

Football Insider revealed on 22 June that both Liverpool and Arsenal are keen to lure Barcola away should they be given any indication he could leave PSG this summer.

Andoni Iraola's side had previously been expected to focus on other targets, but after missing out, have switched their attention towards the France international.

While a move is currently considered unlikely and his club are not planning to sell, Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the situation in case of any changes.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Diomande was the number one target, but now it seems that he will be staying at Leipzig for at least another season.

"If not, he'll be going to PSG, which is his preference over Liverpool, which is a blow to the Reds' transfer plans.

"They are big admirers of Bradley Barcola, they've had him on their radar for a while, so it will be the next logical step to see if they can do a deal for the France international.

"It's not going to be easy, PSG are not rushing him out the door, they're saying he's not for sale, they want to keep him, and they're under no pressure to sell.

"They've sold Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan, it looks like Kolo Muani is likely to leave and Lee Kang-In is likely to leave as well, so they want to keep hold of Barcola.

"Liverpool are obviously disappointed to not have signed Diomande, but it now looks difficult for them to try and sign Barcola as well."

What is PSG's updated stance on selling Barcola?

Despite growing interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal, PSG are standing by their stance that he is not for sale and will not be allowed to leave this summer.

The French champions will allow a number of fringe players to leave the Parc des Princes this summer, making the winger's importance to the squad even more clear.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealaed in May that PSG are planning to hold contract talks with Barcola in an attempt to secure his long-term future at the club.

While much could depend on the winger's willingness to sign a new deal, and how he feels about leaving Paris this summer, the club are extremely reluctant to see him leave.

Liverpool could attempt to test that resolve, but may be forced to wait for any changes on PSG's stance, or they may be forced to look elsewhere.
