Liverpool miss out on £13m windfall as Champions League prize money revealed
Liverpool missed out on a £13million windfall after being knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage by PSG.
The Premier League club suffered a 4-0 defeat on aggregate, with the French champions winning both legs 2-0.
It’s the second campaign in a row where Liverpool have been dumped out of the competition by PSG, having exited in the round of 16 last season.
The Ligue 1 side’s victory has landed them an extra £13.1m in prize money for reaching the semi-finals, where they will face Bayern Munich for a place in the final.
However, Liverpool have still benefited financially from the Champions League due to the riches on offer in European football’s elite club competition.
How much have Liverpool earned from Champions League?
In terms of how the numbers break down, each team will receive a guaranteed £16.1m for competing in the Champions League this season.
Meanwhile, Swiss Ramble reported Liverpool would earn £37m from Uefa’s value pillar system, which is split into European and non-European segments based on their coefficient ranking and the market pool.

Clubs were awarded £1.8m for each win in the league phase, meaning Arne Slot’s side banked £10.8m after securing victories in six of their eight fixtures.
They also received £9.5m for qualifying automatically for the round of 16 as well as £1.7m for finishing in the top eight.
The 36 clubs competing in the Champions League this season are handed an additional amount based on their individual ranking in the league phase.
Kairat Almaty earned £238,000 after finishing bottom, while a third-place finish landed Liverpool a further £8.1m.
Progressing to the quarter-finals added an extra £10.9m to the Reds’ prize money, ensuring they banked £94.1m before being eliminated by PSG.
How much did Liverpool earn from Champions League last season?
Liverpool earned around £82m in prize money from the Champions League last season before their round-of-16 exit.
That windfall – alongside their Premier League title success – helped them post a new club-record revenue in 2024-25.
The Merseyside giants’ turnover increased from £614m in 2023-24 to £703m, which was the highest total in the top flight last season.
Liverpool are in a battle to qualify for the Champions League this time around following their disappointing domestic campaign.
Slot’s side currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, four points above sixth-place Chelsea heading into the final six games of the season.
