'I can't believe it' - Liverpool fans tear into Ryan Gravenberch as his full stats emerge from 4-2 defeat to Leeds

Ryan Gravenberch clearly had a game to forget as Liverpool fell to a disappointing 4-2 defeat against Leeds United.

While it is only pre-season, supporters are already concerned by some of the players' performances under new leadership from Andoni Iraola.

The Reds put Sunderland and Wrexham to the sword over in America before taking on Leeds, but it was Daniel Farke's side that prevailed.

Luke Chambers and Florian Wirtz helped Iraola's side to a two-goal lead at Soldier Field, only for the Whites to score four goals in the final half-an-hour.

Many changes had been made by this point, understandably, but there were no excuses for some of the experienced players' displays.

Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott were all given chances to impress in the second half, but none of them took it.

It was Gravenberch that took the brunt of the heat, though, especially for his defending in the lead-up to Sean Longstaff's scuffed goal in the 73rd minute.

The Dutchman, along with Jones, completely turned off, allowing the former Newcastle United man to slot, unmarked, inside the penalty area.

Labelled "lazy," "shambolic" and "a disgrace," fans are beginning to question if Gravenberch's incredible start to life at Anfield was simply a fluke.

What do the stats say about Gravenberch's performance?

Players are still getting back up to speed after the 2026 World Cup, but given that the Netherlands were knocked out in the round of 32, Gravenberch should be fresh.

He played the second 45 minutes at Solider Field, and in that time, completed 84 per cent of his passes, had one off-target shot, and created no chances [FotMob].

He made two clearances and recoveries, as well as winning 100 per cent of his ground duels, but he was often second-best when battling for aerial balls.

It would be harsh to read too much into the player's performance in pre-season, but if Iraola is planning to play more expansive football, Gravenberch will need someone else beside him.
