Ibrahim Mbaye's stance on Liverpool move revealed as clubs 'push' to agree deal

Ibrahim Mbaye is keen to join Liverpool this summer despite the growing interest from rival clubs, sources have told Football Insider.

After Andoni Iraola's side made their interest public, the 18-year-old is believed to have had his head turned by the possbility of making the move to Anfield.

That is despite interest from Bayer Leverkusen, who are pushing to agree terms with Paris Saint-Germain, but could now hit a stumbling block in their pursuit.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Mbaye now has his eyes set on a move to the Premier League with Liverpool.

The Reds have been keen to bolster their wide options this summer, and after being made aware of the teenager's availability, are now preparing an attempt to bring him in.

PSG, meanwhile, are believed to be open to his departure as a result of the depth of attacking options at their disposal, with concerns about his long-term role in the side.

Will Liverpool make a move for Ibrahim Mbaye?

Football Insider revealed on 7 August that Liverpool are now in pole position to sign Mbaye after putting themselves in a strong position to get a deal over the line.

Despite his young age, the winger has already made 42 appearances for PSG and 15 for the Senegal national team, and is one of the most highly regarded prospects in Europe.

Liverpool are now preparing to bring him to the Premier League, with Mbaye keen to make the switch and prove himself at the highest level.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Liverpool are trying to put themselves in a position where they could be frontrunners for Ibrahim Mbaye.

"Bayer Leverkusen in Germany have been the ones who have been pushing for the Senegal attacker this summer, but Liverpool have shown their cards and made their interest known.

"It does now seem the player would be open to the opportunity to move to England and to Anfield as well, because he wants to play in the Premier League and test himself at the highest level.

"There is a bit of a battle for his signature right now, and PSG would possibly let him move on with the plethora of attackers that they've got in their star-studded side."

How will signing Mbaye impact Liverpool's transfer plans?

Liverpool's desire to sign a new winger this summer has led them to multiple key targets, with Mbaye not the only player they are aiming to sign this month.

Alongside the 18-year-old, Liverpool are working on a deal to sign his teammate Bradley Barcola, who could be available after turning down a new contract at PSG.

Football Insider revealed on 8 August that Liverpool's pursuit of Mbaye will have no impact on their move to sign Barcola, with the deals seen as separate pursuits.

Mbaye is predominantly a right-sided winger, while Barcola plays on the left, with Iraola aiming to bolster both positions before the window closes.

Pulling off a double deal for the PSG duo would be a huge boost to their squad and their attempts to ease concerns about their strength in depth, with work now underway.
