Liverpool fans should be excited about their pursuit of Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche after Adi Hutter's high praise of his talents.

New Reds boss Andoni Iraola is looking to bolster his forward line this summer following Mo Salah's emotional departure.

Victor Munoz has already arrived to add depth to their ranks, but Liverpool look set to miss out on RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande as PSG and Arsenal retain an interest.

They have previously been tentatively linked with a move for Monaco man Akliouche, who shone in Ligue 1 last season and was in France's World Cup squad this summer.

According to a new report from Sky Sports, Liverpool have now made an "initial approach" to Monaco for the versatile right-sided attacker, who is also on PSG's radar.

He is clearly a top talent who could become a key player at Anfield for several years to come, particularly based on what former Monaco manager Hutter has said about him in the past.

Adi Hutter thinks Maghnes Akliouche is 'different' and will have a 'big career'

24-year-old Akliouche has emerged through Monaco's youth ranks to make 139 senior appearances for the club since 2021.

He registered seven goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions last season after being named as their Player of the Year in the previous campaign.

Akliouche kicked on and became a real key player while Hutter was in charge of Monaco, and he could not speak highly enough of his playmaker during a February 2025 interview.

Speaking to The Guardian, he said: "France have so many players at the top level, but I cannot see another player who has the same skills as Akliouche. He is a totally different player to France’s other players. He is brave, always dribbling, always has an idea. He has a big career in front of him. I am encouraged to see where he can go."

Which other clubs have been linked to Akliouche?

PSG have made several offers for Akliouche already this summer, who featured for just seven minutes off the bench at the World Cup as France finished fourth.

It remains unclear how serious Liverpool are about signing him after making their first formal approach, and reports of their pursuit could see other Premier League clubs spring into action after previous links.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Man United admire Akliouche as Michael Carrick eyes another forward signing upon their return to the Champions League.

Tottenham are also being kept "informed" on Akliouche's situation, according to Football Insider's sources, having held a long-term interest in his signature.
