Liverpool 'fuming' with Bayern Munich after Rio Ngumoha approach - Insider

Liverpool are prepared to do everything in their power to stop Rio Ngumoha joining Bayern Munich after talks with his representatives.

The Reds are believed to have been left shocked by the news that Bayern Munich had approached the 17-year-old's team before making contact with the club.

Andoni Iraola has no plans to lose the winger, and views him as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, and the club will not entertain talks over his departure.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are "fuming" with Bayern Munich over the way they approached Ngumoha.

They are now prepared to block talks over his departure, with no plans to lose the teenager, and plans in place for him to remain part of their first-team plans.

What do Liverpool have planned for Rio Ngumoha?

Football Insider revealed in April that Liverpool will reject offers for Ngumoha amid suggestions he could leave on loan in search of increased playing time.

The winger was used sparingly under Arne Slot's management, but looks set to play a more prominent role under Iraola, with plans to boost his development.

Sources have also said that Liverpool will back away from signing a winger to clear his path into the starting XI, and any talks over his exit will not be entertained.

"Liverpool will be doing everything in their power to stop Ngumoha leaving," Brown told Football Insider.

"They've already lost Salah, and this young lad has come into the team and made a splash, he's obviously got great talent, and they rate him very highly.

"So they need look no further than the options they've already got available, because he already looks like he's ready to come in and play a regular part in the side.

"I was always under the impression that approaching players without the club's knowledge was illegal, but it always seems to happen and to be allowed to happen.

"Of course, these things happen, but it's not usually as out in the open as this has been, and that's not going to go down well.

"I have no doubt Liverpool will be fuming, because their best talents are being approached by clubs like Bayern Munich and they have no knowledge of it.

"Liverpool are not going to let that happen, they're not going to let him go, and especially not to Bayern Munich now that this has happened."

Andoni Iraola's transfer priorities revealed

Shortly following his arrival as Liverpool manager, Iraola is already putting plans in place to strengthen his squad alongside keeping his best players this summer.

It has proved to be a frustrating season on the pitch for Liverpool, and that has led to concerns growing surrounding key areas of the squad.

Football Insider revealed on 1 June that Iraola has met with Liverpool's recruitment team and is now working towards strengthening his squad in three key positions.

The Reds want to bolster their options with the additions of a new left-back, a right-sided winger and a holding midfielder, with work ongoing behind the scenes.

However, it is considered unlikely that Iraola will raid his former club Bournemouth, with plans being put in place even before the manager's arrival.
