Liverpool make Harvey Elliott transfer decision amid Andoni Iraola reveal
Liverpool will be open to selling Harvey Elliott this summer if he fails to impress Andoni Iraola in pre-season, sources have told Football Insider.
Elliott is back on Merseyside for the time being after a tough loan spell at Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old has been backed to win his place back in their squad by new Reds boss Iraola, after previously being dropped by Arne Slot.
His future still remains uncertain, though, given that his current contract is set to expire in June of next year.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Elliott could seal a permanent move away from Anfield if Iraola does not see him playing a key role in the coming season.
He is keen to stay at Liverpool and be reintegrated back into the fold, but must impress his new boss over the next six weeks.
Harvey Elliott could be sold by Liverpool this summer
Elliott only played nine games for Villa last season as they purposely avoided automatically triggering his option to buy clause.
He has been linked with several clubs over the last few months, but will be given the chance to impress Iraola before a possible exit.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Obviously if he doesn't fit the bill for what Iraola is looking for during these opening weeks of pre-season, then Liverpool might have to listen to offers for Harvey Elliott as well due to his contract situation. He's going into his final year as well."
Which clubs are keen on a move for Elliott?
Elliott has previously impressed at Liverpool and has extensive experience in the Champions League, so is an attractive option for several smaller clubs this summer.
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Leeds are interested in Elliott, and he would seemingly be open to a move if Liverpool look to sell.
Crystal Palace and Sunderland have also been tipped to try and sign the 23-year-old this summer, while Football Insider's sources have indicated that Coventry are also keen on Elliott.
