Liverpool 'make Trent Alexander-Arnold return stance clear'

Liverpool are not considering a move to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold back from Real Madrid at any stage in the near future.

The 27-year-old departed Anfield on a free transfer last year, but has struggled to make a name for himself at Real Madrid, leading to speuclation about a return.

Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked with bringing the right-back back to the Premier League and have been tipped to make moves for him in the 2027 transfer windows.

However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool have no intention of seeing Alexander-Arnold return and are prepared to look elsewhere.

The Reds have moved on since his departure, while the England international is believed to be content with life in Madrid, squashing any hints of a return.

There are also concerns about potential fan backlash if Alexander-Arnold was to return to Anfield given the negative reaction to his exit last summer.

Could Trent Alexander-Arnold return to Liverpool?

Brown told Football Insider as Alexander-Arnold closed in on a move away from Anfield that he could one day return to Liverpool, likely in the latter stages of his career.

Not even two years later, the right-back is already being tipped for a sensational return to Anfield, but that is unlikely to take place as things stand.

Instead, Alexander-Arnold is considered likely to remain in Madrid, with Liverpool not planning to bring him back to English football any time soon.

"It would be a huge surprise if Liverpool looked to bring Alexander-Arnold back," Brown told Football Insider.

"I'm led to believe things haven't quite worked out for him at Real Madrid so far, but he made his bed and now he has to lay in it, I don't think he'll be looking to leave already.

"From a Liverpool point of view, I just don't see any world where they look to bring him back so soon after he left.

"Obviously there's the sentimental side of things, he's a Liverpool boy, I'm sure he's still got love for the club, but I'm not convinced the fans will have the same optimistic view.

"They were angry when he decided to leave, and wouldn't react well if he was looking to come back already, so the club could decide against a move because of that backlash.

"Even without that, though, is Alexander-Arnold the answer to Liverpool's prayers at the moment? I don't think so. I expect they'll be looking at other targets instead."

Which clubs could make a move for Alexander-Arnold?

Liverpool are not the only club who have been linked with a move to bring Alexander-Arnold back to English football in recent months, as speculation was rife during the summer.

The right-back has started 30 games since his move to Los Blancos, and so far this season, he has started just two of their seven La Liga games.

As a result, Brown told Football Insider that Man City have been keeping a close eye on Alexander-Arnold's situation and considered making a move if he was made available.

Man City have long had concerns about their right-back position, despite high praise for Matheus Nunes, and could have been tempted to move for an upgrade.

Alexander-Arnold is bound to remain on the radar of English clubs due to his success in the Premier League, but any suggestions of a return are set to be dismissed for now.
