Rio Ngumoha is now keen to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place in Andoni Iraola's side after reports of talks over a move to Bayern Munich.

Ngumoha broke into Liverpool's first team at just 17-years-old last season with numerous standout performances off the left wing.

He has all the tools to be a top player in the years to come, but has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield as Bayern Munich line up a summer move.

Ngumoha felt like he deserved even more game time last term under Arne Slot, so his sacking has worked in Liverpool's favour regarding the youngster's future.

He is happy to stay at Liverpool if new boss Iraola agrees to hand him regular minutes in 2026-27, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast.

Iraola is set to oversee some key additions to the Reds' ranks ahead of next season, with a new winger on his agenda.

Despite links to new wide players, Ngumoha is likely set to be a key part of his plans on Merseyside for the years to come.

Rio Ngumoha decides to stay at Liverpool on Andoni Iraola condition

Ngumoha’s 2025-26 exploits saw him awarded the Premier League Debutant of the Year award, while he earned his first England cap against New Zealand last weekend.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Under the new management of Andoni Iraola, I'm sure (Ngumoha will) be hoping that he can become a regular in the Liverpool team, and I think if that is the case, the player will be happy to stay.

"Liverpool are more than happy with Ngumoha, so I would imagine that there will be talks over a new deal to try and extend his stay at Anfield beyond 2028 and secure his long-term future so they can, sort of, put all of these transfer rumours to bed."

Liverpool to turn attention to Antonio Nusa as Yan Diomande concerns arise

Liverpool could target Antonio Nusa if Yan Diomande move fails

The Reds have been closely linked with a move for RB Leipzig star Diomande, who can feature on either wing and registered 20 goal contributions in 33 league games last season.

They are facing stern competition for his services, with PSG also keen on a move for the Ivory Coast international.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Liverpool also admire Leipzig's Nusa and will look to land him if a move for his teammate fails.

21-year-old Nusa notched five goals and four assists in 35 appearances for the German club last season.
