Liverpool suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat to bottom side Wolves at Molineux as Andre's added-time strike won continued the hosts' fine recent form.

A slow first half saw the sides register just two combined shots on target, with Liverpool taking them both through Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Wolves went ahead in the 78th minute as substitute Rodrigo Gomes finished off a quick counter-attack with a tidy finish after impressive hold-up play from Tolu Arokodare.

Jose Sa then pulled off a fine save to deny Rio Ngumoha, but Liverpool equalised in the 83rd minute through Mo Salah as he poked past the Portuguese keeper at his near post.

Virgil van Dijk wasted a great chance to win it in added time as his header went straight at Sa, and it was the hosts who stole all three points at the death as Andre's deflected effort looped home in the 94th minute.

Sources have told Football Insider that Salah could leave Liverpool in the summer, but based on this evidence, they need him to stick around for at least one more season.

Mo Salah - Man of the match

It is tough to pick one player who particularly shone for the Reds, considering they lost to the team currently sat 20th in the Premier League.

Despite that, Salah was definitely Liverpool's best player simply due to the fact that he got them back into the game after going one down.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde's loose pass was seized upon by the Egyptian, and he dribbled in trademark fashion before calmly putting the ball past Sa to make it 1-1.

He stepped up when his team needed him most, but was let down by some lacklustre defending that summed their struggles from this season up.

Salah's links to Saudi Arabia are not going away anytime soon, but Arne Slot clearly still needs him, and he earns an eight out of 10 rating here.

Ryan Gravenberch was off the pace and hooked at half-time

Gravenberch has had to play a lot of football this season, and it looked to be catching up with him in the first half at Molineux.

The Dutch midfielder is usually so effective and energetic, but his lethargy allowed Wolves' midfielders to take the incentive and stop any attacks at source.

He was booked pretty early on for a poor tackle on Joao Gomes, and was arguably lucky not to have been sent off after committing four fouls in the first half alone.

Gravenberch failed to win any of his six attempted ground duels and was taken off at the break for Jones, thus earning a three out of 10 rating.
