Ronaldo Araujo drops permanent Liverpool move hint as new details emerge

Ronald Araujo is said to be taking extra lessons of English as he looks to embed himself at Liverpool after a brilliant start to his loan move.

The 27-year-old had been cast out at Barcelona following struggles with injuries and poor form, but looks to have been revitalised at Anfield.

The Reds can exercise a £47million option to buy for the Uruguay international next summer, but will not rush into any decision.

Araujo's start at Liverpool has not gone unnoticed, however, and he is quickly becoming a fan favourite for his excellent performances.

The defender starred from right-back on Wednesday as Andoni Iraola's side started their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid.

The centre-back even claimed an assist for Dominik Szoboszlai's goal, finding his teammate with a sensational flick in the penalty box.

The last two seasons have seen mistakes and lapses of judgement start to seep into Araujo's game.

Despite having previously been such a reliable figure for the Spanish champions, injuries have been damaging.

The Champions League semi-final in the 2024-25 season was a significant turning point. Araujo made high-profile mistakes leading to goals as Barcelona were shocked as San Siro by Inter Milan.

Yet he has looked a player reborn in his first weeks at Liverpool. According to The Athletic, the defender feels energised by a change of scenery and a fresh challenge.

He has also hired an English tutor for extra lessons and took a pay cut to make the move happen this summer.

Aside from his excellent assist, Araujo was superb on Wednesday night.

The defender took three shots and completed four passes into the final third, while making a block and two clearances.

He was superb against Ipswich Town last week, too, completing two successful dribbles, making an astonishing nine clearances and winning nine of his 10 duels.

Araujo will not be short of minutes this season and should he continue like this, Liverpool would be mad not to sign him permanently.
