Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has put himself in the £100million bracket following interest from Real Madrid.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider Arne Slot’s side would "think twice" about selling the Hungary international even at that price.

Szoboszlai has been a standout player for Liverpool this season, having registered 10 goals and seven assists in 36 appearances.

That form has seen Real Madrid linked with a move to sign the 25-year-old, who is under contract at Anfield until June 2028.

Why Liverpool would 'think twice' about accepting Dominik Szoboszlai offer

Szoboszlai joined Liverpool in a deal worth £60m from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023.

The midfielder’s value has increased in recent months following a string of impressive performances at Anfield.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed how Liverpool would respond if an offer came in from Real Madrid for Szoboszlai.

“I think Szoboszlai has probably put himself in the £100m bracket,” said Borson.

“If he was to move, I think it's pretty unlikely that Real Madrid would invest at that sort of scale this summer for Szoboszlai. I think Liverpool probably would even think twice at £100m because obviously you've got to replace him and it's not completely clear where you would spend your £100m.

“Real Madrid are financially massive right now. They are the undoubted leaders in world football. The stadium has been a huge success, generating huge revenues, and they’re clearly in the running for the Champions League and La Liga again.”

Why Real Madrid are unlikely to agree Szoboszlai deal

Borson admitted a £100m deal is unlikely to take place despite Real Madrid’s financial power.

“They're very well set, but they have been quite prudent over the last few years when it comes to transfer fees,” said Borson.

“They've been quite selective about where they've been spending their money, leveraging their scale in the market and their presence in the market for free transfers.

“Whether they do that, obviously we've been told that they're not going to do it with Konate this time, which has been rumoured. But I just think a £100m deal for Szoboszlai to me feels unlikely.”

Szoboszlai has filled in at right-back on multiple occasions over the past few weeks following Liverpool’s injury problems, proving his versatility in different positions.
