Rio Ngumoha on shortlist of all 'major clubs' - Insider: Liverpool 'lucky' he missed out on World Cup
Rio Ngumoha is on the radar of every top European club after his breakthrough season at Liverpool.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the starlet is known to "every sporting director" across the continent.
This comes amid reports of strong interest from German giants Bayern Munich, after a campaign that saw the 17-year-old score his first two Premier League goals.
Wyness believes that Liverpool are "lucky" that Ngumoha missed out on Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup, as that would have ramped up interest in him even further.
The winger travelled to the USA as part of the England contingent for their final two warm-up games ahead of the tournament, and dazzled in a second-half cameo against New Zealand.
He will not be part of the tournament itself, but Wyness believes that he has already earmarked himself as a star in the making.
Rio Ngumoha already being 'hunted' down
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Ngumoha has all the tools needed to make it to the very top of the game.
He noted that the youngster has the right kind of brain and personality needed to go on and reach his staggering potential.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, the Scottish businessman emphasised that his name is already being "hunted" by some of European football's biggest names.
"I don't think it's going to make any difference (not being at the World Cup), he's already on the radar of every major club," Wyness said.
"Every scouting department and every sporting director will know his name, and it won't be hard for them to know that. Whether he's at the World Cup or not, he is on that list, with all the major clubs of young, aspiring talent coming through.
"Liverpool are lucky he's not in the World Cup because if he did perform, that interest may increase, but make no mistake, he's recognised already and he'll be on the lists.
"It's going to be tough for Liverpool. He certainly seems to be an outstanding talent. Seems to be a very switched-on young kid as well. Good brain and good personality. So he's got it all going for him.
"He won't be at the World Cup, so he will stay injury-free. Let's see how that pans out, but make no mistake that he's a name that is being scattered and hunted already."
Ngumoha already growing 'frustrated' at Liverpool
Football Insider recently revealed that Liverpool won't entertain any offers for Ngumoha this summer, despite the interest from Bayern.
The starlet is understood to be "frustrated" with the lack of gametime that he received in 2025-26, as he started just five league games throughout the season.
Nevertheless, Ngumoha is said to be "hopeful" of getting more exposure to first-team football under Andoni Iraola next term, as he continues to make a name for himself.
He will also be hoping to kick on after earning his first senior England cap, and Tuchel is clearly already a big admirer.
