'We've got amazing plans' - Jeff Bezos 'contacts' to secure new Liverpool deals
Amit Bhatia and Jeff Bezos' contacts will help secure some huge sponsorship deals for Liverpool over the coming years.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that he expects the Reds to seal a new front-of-shirt sponsor well in advance of the 2027-28 season.
It has emerged that Standard Chartered have not renewed their 16-year deal with Liverpool, allowing the club to open talks with new investors.
Borson already believes that the 20-time Premier League champions are in advanced talks with new sponsors, possibly thanks to the club's new minority owners.
Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have sold a large minority share to a consortium led by Bhatia, a 46-year-old British-Indian businessman, and one including Bezos.
The founder of Amazon is worth £269billion, and is now expected to use his contacts to help Liverpool to replace Standard Chartered as their front-of-shirt sponsor.
Liverpool have 'amazing plans' in next three to five years
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson explained that it would be a "shock" if Liverpool failed to find a new front-of-shirt sponsor in the coming months.
"It's a big sponsorship product and there aren't that many players in that market. And they'll want a bit of competitive tension," he said.
"It's all part of the expectation. They won't be shocked by it. I'm sure they're well advanced in conversations.
"I think the new ownership coming in, this can be the first move of Bhatia and Bezos's contacts and [Eduardo] Saverin's contacts.
"They can say, 'This is available, we can get you to the front of the queue. You must meet our marketing team. They've got a fantastic proposition. We’ve got amazing plans for the next three to five years'.
"It would shock me if they didn't get a very good partner in place over the next few months, well in advance of the printing of the shirt in China next year."
What do Liverpool want from a front-of-shirt sponsor?
Premier League clubs have struggled to find new front-of-shirt sponsors, especially since new bans on gambling companies were introduced.
The Reds should not have any trouble striking a new deal, however, with the new minority owners set to bring contacts of their own to the table.
"You need to have a very, very big marketing budget to take Liverpool's front-of-shirt because they want probably three to five years," Borson told Football Insider.
"They'll want a minimum of three years, I would think, and a minimum of £60m, with an escalator each year and trophy bonuses."
