Liverpool's win over Sunderland showed that the squad are still behind manager Arne Slot.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Liverpool are "showing signs of improvement."

Liverpool ended Sunderland's unbeaten home run in the Premier League with a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light, before backing it up with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Brighton in the FA Cup.

The pressure has been gradually building on Slot, and the 47-year-old may still require Champions League football to keep his job at Anfield.

Keith Wyness impressed by Liverpool's win at Sunderland

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs - believes Liverpool now have momentum on their side in their race for a Champions League place.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks back-to-back wins have relieved some of the pressure on Slot.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It does, I think, particularly the Sunderland away was one that I thought was going to be more challenging for them. For him to pull through that one I think gave them the confidence and momentum going forward.

"So I think they're probably going to just about make it [into top four], but it isn't going to be easy, so yes we've got to watch them, but I think the momentum will be there, as I said, they're showing signs of improvement.

“And certainly Sunderland away, to me, was a meaningful result that showed he's got the squad back fighting there, and they're going to make it a hope for them.”

Real Madrid could ramp up pressure in pursuit of Liverpool star

Liverpool could lose midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai in the summer following a confession that the 25-year-old wants to play for Real Madrid.

There are no plans to allow Szoboszlai to leave Liverpool, but speculation over a move to Real Madrid could unsettle the player.

Szoboszlai has proved a key player under Slot, starting 24 of Liverpool's 26 Premier League games and even filling in at right-back at times this season.
