Liverpool will tell Wataru Endo he is free to find a new club this month if they succeed in signing a replacement, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders are working on a deal to sign Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi and are hopeful of securing an agreement ahead of the new Premier League season.

The signing of either midfielder would see Endo slip down the Anfield pecking order and unlikely to see much game time.

Sources have told Football Insider that Liverpool will listen to offers for the Japan international as soon as a new number six is signed.

French side Marseille had a £15million offer for Endo rejected earlier in the window.

The Premier League giants are continuing Sociedad as they seek to bring Zubimendi to Anfield.

One potential issue is that they may have to pay his £51.7 million release clause in full.

Endo was brought in by Liverpool last August as the club missed out on the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The Japan international was a regular starter last season and made 20 Premier League starts among 43 appearances in all competitions.
