Luciano Becchio sends Twitter message to Leeds fans, comments on league position

Former Leeds fan favourite Luciano Becchio has wished his old club’s fanbase a Merry Christmas, stating that he is happy to see them in the promotion hunt.

The 32-year-old forward enjoyed five years at Elland Road, where he scored 86 goals in 219 appearances.

The Argentinian was part of the last Leeds promotion team in 2010 from League one and he has now stated on his personal Twitter account that he is very happy to see the club in the hunt for Premier League football.

Leeds are currently sat in fifth place in the Championship table with Garry Monk’s side in the play-offs by two points.

The former Swansea boss has transformed the Yorkshire giants into one of the best teams in England’s second tier as they look to end their 12-year wait for Premier League football.

The Whites will be preparing for an encounter against Preston on Boxing Day before clashes  against Aston Villa and Rotherham in the space of four days.

Leeds have already taken six points from Aston Villa and Rotherham this campaign, while it will be their first meeting with Preston since last season’s ending 1-1 draw.
