Paul Robinson has claimed Luke Shaw's form could force Harry Maguire into leaving Man United this year.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said Shaw, 27, has been "incredible" while playing in an unfamiliar centre-half role of late.

Shaw has started at left centre-half in three of Man United's previous five Premier League fixtures.

The ex-Southampton star appears to have overtaken Maguire in the centre-half pecking order at Old Trafford.

According to ESPN (18 January), West Ham are interested in signing Maguire this January.

However, the Hammers are said to be facing an uphill task to sign the England international.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Shaw's form and its implications for Maguire, Robinson said: "Shaw has been incredible.

"He has been given an opportunity at centre-half recently and he has taken it with both hands.

"I never thought of him being a centre-half but now you watch him there, he has all of the credentials. He deserves all of his plaudits.

"You wonder where it leaves Maguire though. Shaw and [Lisandro] Martinez are ahead of him in the pecking order now.

"Maguire was great at the World Cup. But, he has come back and is not playing. I question where his future lies. He has a left-back playing ahead of him. I think his time at Man United is up."
