Liverpool have offered Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister a "huge" salary that would triple his current deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseysiders are making progress on the capture of the Argentina World Cup winner, 24, as they look to wrap up an early-summer deal.

It is believed that Liverpool have met Mac Allister's representatives for face-to-face talks and offered him a contract worth more than £150,000-a-week.

That would mean a massive pay hike for the midfielder as the possibility of a mega-money transfer to the Merseyside giants edges closer.

Liverpool have not yet secured an agreement with the player but are increasingly confident of doing so and it is currently the most advanced of their potential new signings.

Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all set to leave Anfield when their current contracts expire this summer.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants Mac Allister signed in time for the club's return for pre-season action, while the player himself is said to be "very keen" to join the 19-times league champions.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Klopp regards the World Cup winner as an "amazing" player who can slot instantly into his starting eleven.

Man City and Man United have also been credited with an interest in the Brighton star.

Mac Allister has accumulated 11 goals and two assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season - including a last-gasp winner against Man United last Thursday (4 May).
