'Major surgery' - Heckingbottom confirms big Leeds summer transfer plans
Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed that he has plans to change the look of the team over the summer transfer window.
The Whites underwent a major facelift last year in director of football Victor Orta’s first transfer window at Elland Road, however the squad has definitely taken a step back given how hopes of a play-off spot died months ago.
Speaking after the 2-0 win against QPR on Sunday, Heckingbottom suggested that he wants to change how the team play, regardless of how many he is able to snap up.
“You want to make major surgery with the minimal amount of signings. If funds are unlimited you can do what you want but it’s never good to keep ripping everything apart. I want to make big changes to the dynamic, however many we have to sign,” he said, as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay on his personal Twitter account.

Football Insider verdict
After seeing Leeds’ performance this season, owner Andrea Radrizzani must surely see that he need to invest in the playing squad if he wants to take the club back to the Premier League. Orta’s signings have been pretty woeful and Leeds fans will not be overly bothered to see a lot of them shifted on in the summer. Caleb Ekuban, Felix Wiedwald and Pawel Cibicki are among those who hopefully will be shifted out because they are well short of the required quality. Heckingbottom is right to suggest that tearing things up for a second season in a row wouldn’t help. There are some good players in this squad that a team can be built around. If Samuel Saiz can rediscover his form then him, Pablo Hernandez, Adam Forshaw, Pontus Jansson, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and a new striker can provide a solid spine to the team.
