Man City backed to complete Toni Kroos deal after what pundit saw in person

Frank McAvennie has insisted Toni Kroos would go straight into the Man City starting XI.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic and West Ham striker hailed the 32-year-old after what he saw in person against the Hoops.

According to Spanish outlet Diario SPORT (14 November), City are interested in the German veteran on a free transfer when his Real Madrid contract expires at the end of the season.

Kroos will be free to negotiate with clubs over a move in January as his eight year spell at Real comes to an end.

The Sky Blues are said to be willing to offer the midfielder £12million per season in wages, almost £3m more than his current salary at the Spanish giants.

McAvennie insisted Kroos would be a mainstay in Pep Guardiola’s side.

I think if he came in from Real Madrid, who would keep him out the team?” he told Football Insider.

The team is playing well at the moment but Toni Kroos is on another level.

I saw first hand him and [Luka] Modric playing for Real Madrid. Especially at Celtic Park it was incredible how they did not fluster or panic. He controlled the game to let Modric go and do his thing.

He is so understated. He controls everything just by doing the easy things. I think he is a wonderful talent. There is no way he would not be in the team unless he was injured.

In other news, an expert has told Man City that this ‘absolutely top-class’ signing could unleash Erling Haaland as offer submitted.
