Man City could seal 'great' Rafael Leao signing after journalist's update - pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed AC Milan forward Rafael Leao would be a “great” addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad at Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one suggested Leao, 23, would jump at the chance to move to the Etihad.

According to Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, via the Manchester Evening News (13 September), the Premier League champions are interested in signing Leao next year.

The Portuguese forward was Serie A’s player of the year in the 2021-22 campaign.

He has two years remaining on his contract at the San Siro.

When asked by Football Insider if City need to add another forward player to their squad, Robinson said: “You would not say that they need another forward.

“They are probably looking at signing him just so others do not have him.

“City are amassing a squad with two top-quality players in every position.

“They do not need any additions when you look at their squad. But we know that Pep Guardiola likes to rotate.

“To have a player like Leao at your disposal would be great. If the board are going to let you sign him, why wouldn’t you?

“City are a team competing on all fronts so I’m sure he would be interested even if he is not guaranteed to start. You are guaranteed to win silverware at City. What player would not want that?”
