Sources: Man City agree terms with Marc Cucurella as deal reaches advanced stage

Man City have agreed personal terms with Marc Cucurella and are in advanced talks to finalise a fee with Brighton, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The left-back, 23, has accepted City’s contract offer and made it clear to the Seagulls he wants to quit for the champions.

A City source has told Football Insider that a full agreement is not in place as the two clubs have not yet agreed a price.

But they are confident of doing so any negotiations have now reached an advanced stage.

City have prioritised the capture of the Catalan, who was named Brighton’s player of the year in his inaugural season in English football.

Pep Guardiola’s side have identified Cucurella as the ideal fit for the attacking left-back role, with him excelling in the position since his move to the AmEx Stadium last summer.

Brighton are keen to keep Cucurella, especially after allowing Yves Bissouma to leave for Tottenham in a £25 million move which was confirmed on Friday afternoon.

But City’s interest is proving too difficult to resist and a deal is now likely to be agreed.

City have made Cucurella one of their two top marquee targets, along with Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips, after securing the sensational signing of Erling Haaland earlier in the window.

They have already submitted a bid for Phillips and the player has made it clear behind the scenes he wants to head to the Eithad Stadium.

In other news, two other clubs have submitted bids for top Man City target Kalvin Phillips.
