Man City issued three-word verdict by pundit after controversial Pep Guardiola quotes

Paul Robinson has rubbished the idea of a media bias towards Liverpool after Man City manager Pep Guardiola’s comments.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed not many fans like the Reds despite Jurgen Klopp’s “likability.”

Man City have a narrow advantage over Liverpool in the title race heading into Wednesday night’s trip to Wolves.

As quoted by Sky Sports (9 May), Guardiola claimed “everyone in this country supports Liverpool” ahead of his side’s “final” at Molineux.

Jurgen Klopp has disputed the City manager’s claims since.

He told Sky Sports (10 May) “not even all of Liverpool” is behind his side, who won 2-1 at Aston Villa on Tuesday.

When asked by Football Insider if Guardiola was correct in his assessment of the English media, Robinson issued a three-word verdict: “Not at all.

“It is getting down to the nitty gritty now. Managers comments in press conferences are getting blown up. The pressure is massive on Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp right now.

“I don’t think there is a media bias towards Liverpool. Not at all.

“I think it is quite the opposite in all honesty. Klopp is a very likeable character but only Liverpool fans like Liverpool really. Not many others do. I cannot see there being a strong media bias towards them.

“I think Guardiola has got that one wrong.”
