Man City news: Pundit '100 per cent' sure on Pep Guardiola future after stance revealed

Paul Robinson is “100 per cent” sure Pep Guardiola will put pen to paper on a new deal at Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one does not believe the 51-year-old will leave the Etihad until he has delivered the Champions League.

Guardiola has entered the final nine months of his contract with the Premier League champions.

The Daily Mail‘s Jack Gaughan revealed on 6 November that the City boss is expected to decide on his future, and whether to sign an extension, during the World Cup.

It is said that Guardiola’s wife, Cristina, will have a huge say in what path is taken.

A City source has told Football Insider today that the club are confident of keeping holding of their immensely popular manager.

The Cityzens have been incredibly successful under Guardiola but are yet to win the Champions League.

When asked by Football Insider Guardiola would likely pen a new agreement, Robinson said: “100 per cent.

“I cannot see anything but. He still has so much unfinished business at Manchester City.

“He was brought in to win the Champions League and I cannot see him leaving until that itch has been scratched. They win domestic trophies week in, week out but they have not got the holy grail. Until he wins that, I cannot see him leaving.

“That is why I do not think there is any doubt about his future. Guardiola has earned the right to stay at City as long as he wants.”

In other news, Man City have been backed to win the race to Rafael Leao after a transfer update from Italy.
