Man City news: Whelan hits back at Pep Guardiola after Liverpool dig
Pep Guardiola is wrong to suggest everyone is against Man City as Liverpool vie for an unprecedented quadruple, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the media are not biased against the Citizens despite the 51-year-old’s claims.
The Spaniard’s side capitalised on Liverpool dropping points against Tottenham with a 5-0 rout of Newcastle on Sunday (8 May).
Man City are now three points clear atop the Premier League with matches against Wolves, West Ham, and Aston Villa still to play.
Whelan insisted the former Barcelona boss will be “quietly confident” of retaining the league title.

When asked if Guardiola had a point with his statement, he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “No.
“Don’t get me wrong, I think everyone is just waiting to see if miracles happen. It’d be a great achievement if Liverpool can pull it off.
“I don’t think there is any hint of bias from the media or from anyone in this country.
“Man City have got a job to do. They had a great reaction on Sunday, taking their anger out and demolishing that Newcastle side.
“That’s what champions do. They were emphatic – they never sit around feeling sorry for themselves.
“I think Pep will be quietly confident that they’ve got the job done, but it’s been a great scrap.”
Liverpool have already lifted the Carabao Cup this season.
The Merseysiders are in the finals of the FA Cup (14 May) and the Champions League (28 May) this month.
