Man City could look to sell Jack Grealish in an effort to make space for the arrival of a new winger in next summer's transfer window.

This is according to former Man United and Aston Villa senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that City are targeting a big-name signing in Grealish's position.

This comes after Football Insider revealed City had considered a move to sign Barcelona star Raphinha.

Grealish, 29, has been in and out of Pep Guardiola's side so far this season, and while a January move is unlikely, all parties are weighing up a potential exit.

The England international has featured in ten of City's 16 games so far this season, starting just eight, while he has averaged just 53 minutes per game.

He has missed their last four games through an injury sustained in training, but doubts had emerged about his role and lessening importance to the squad.

Despite having returned to the last two England camps, City's pursuit of a new winger would see him fall further down the pecking order at the Etihad.

As a result, it has been said that the club are prepared to entertain offers for his signature, and he could be tempted to move for more regular game time.

Man City plan to accept Jack Grealish offers in new twist

However, the former scout, who worked with Grealish during his time at Villa and has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment including a lengthy spell as Man United chief scout, has insisted that City could look to push him out of the club to make way for a new signing.

"I'm not sure about Jack Grealish," he told Football Insider.

"He's been in and out of the team again this season and he's not a regular feature there.

"They're happy with what Doku and Savinho bring to the side.

"I've heard City could look to sign a big-name winger as they feel the squad could be strengthened in that position - that would be for next summer.

"But then where does Grealish fit in the squad? He'd be facing even fewer starts.

"I think, if they do sign a new option, they could look to move him out to make space.

"They might want to make some money back on him.

"He's on big wages as well so that would free up some of the budget.

"I'm sure it's something he'd be open to as well because he wants to play football - I know Jack from his time at Villa and he's always wanted to play regular games."
