Man City tipped to 'win everything' after journalist's update on Haaland pursuit - pundit

Frank McAvennie

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Frank McAvennie claims it is "game over" for the rest of the Premier League if Man City sign Erling Haaland.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is a huge fan of the Borussia Dortmund striker.

On 7 January, The Athletic's David Ornstein reported Haaland is Man City's top summer transfer target.

The 21-year-old has scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists in 18 appearances for Dortmund this season.

McAvennie would love to see Haaland playing for Man City.

"It's game over if Man City get Haaland, they will win everything," Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

"I'm a big fan of his and he has done so well in that Dortmund side.

"He has been tremendous in Europe but people will say the Premier League is a different kettle of fish.

"I would fully expect Haaland to thrive in the Premier League, especially in that Man City team.

"Some big-name strikers can't do it, Fernando Torres was rubbish at Chelsea, for example.

"I don't see that happening with Haaland, he's too good. City are a team who can afford him and he will want to sign.

"He's just brilliant, he really is. I think it would be great to see him playing over here."

Haaland has scored 76 goals in 80 appearances for Dortmund since arriving at the club in January 2020.

He arrived after scoring 29 goals in 27 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg.
