Manchester City are willing to accept an offer for Matheus Nunes following the return of Ilkay Gundogan, sources have told Football Insider

The midfielder has struggled to secure regular minutes in Pep Guardiola’s side since joining the Premier League champions from Wolves for £53million last August.

Man City completed the signing of Gundogan from Barcelona this week and will now consider a loan or permanent offers for Nunes.

Etihad chiefs have set an asking price of more than £40million for the 25-year-old, who is under contract until 2028.

Man City looking to offload Matheus Nunes after poor form

Nunes previously starred in the Premier League during his one season with Wolves, leading to Man City splashing the cash to land his services last summer.

The Portugal international started in 34 of his 41 outings for the West Midlands club, but his opportunities have so far been much more limited at the Etihad.

The midfielder has made just 14 starts in his 31 appearances for Man City and has failed to register a single goal to go alongside his five assists.

Nunes came off the bench in injury time during the 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday, but Guardiola is now willing to let him leave before the 30 August transfer deadline.

Man City

The Premier League side have already sold Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in a deal worth up to £81.5million this summer, while several other high-profile figures have also been linked with a move away.
