Kieran Maguire: Man United have banked 'seven-figure' windfall amid news from California
Man United have likely secured a “seven-figure” windfall from their latest global sponsorship deal.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ new partnership with Qualcomm Technologies.
United announced on Thursday (4 August) that they had struck a multi-year deal with the California-based company.
The alliance will be used chiefly to promote Qualcomm’s Snapdragon brand, the central processing unit used to power many smartphones and computers.
United, who generated £275million of commercial income in the last non-Covid financial year, have 23 global partners in total.
Maguire anticipates that Qualcomm will have “paid through the nose” to secure a place on the ever-expanding list.

“It’s Man United, so it is going to be low seven-figures,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“They don’t give away their IP for peanuts because they have 1.1billion followers according to the club itself.
“Therefore, the opportunity for sponsors, especially global ones, to access not just the club but the brand is something that is worth paying through the nose for.
“So, I would definitely anticipate it being a seven-figure deal. I think that’s the very minimum they would be looking for in a relationship of this stature.”
United host Brighton as they get their 2022-23 Premier League campaign underway on Sunday (7 August).
The biggest commercial news out of Old Trafford ahead of the new campaign was the new training kit sponsorship deal with blockchain firm Tezos.
