Man United could complete' amazing appointment' after Rodgers update from ESPN - pundit
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers would be an “amazing appointment” for Man United, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 48-year-old has been “the best” manager in the Premier League “for some time”.
As reported by ESPN (October 28th), Rodgers is being considered by Man United as a potential replacement for struggling incumbent Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Norweigan boss remains under pressure at Old Trafford after the Red Devils’ 5-0 hammering at home to Liverpool last weekend.
Whelan insisted former Celtic boss Rodgers has done a “ridiculously good” job at the King Power Stadium.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that would be an amazing appointment,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s been the best Premier League manager around for some time.
“I know he’s turned down other jobs because of the situation he’s got at Leicester. He’s got a great squad of players there, and he’s built a real winning mentality at that club.
“They’ve got a great balance at Leicester, very attractive to watch, successful side. Who would not want Brendan Rodgers at Man United?
“In my opinion, he’s up there with the likes of Conte. The job he’s done at Leicester has been ridiculously good.
“He’s won Leicester the FA Cup and cemented their status as top-four challengers.
“You’d normally say they have no right to be at that level, but Rodgers has made that possible.”
Man United are in fifth place in the Premier League and already eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
Rodgers, who is contracted to the Foxes until 2025, led the side to their first-ever FA Cup triumph last term.
