Man United could now sign Mohamed Salah after 'bizarre' Liverpool update - pundit

Man United could sign Mohamed Salah if he leaves Liverpool at the end of the 2022-23 season.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.

According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce (1 June), Salah, 29, will leave Liverpool next summer unless he receives a “significantly improved” contract offer.

It was also claimed the Egypt international would prefer a move to another Premier League club next year if he cannot agree new terms.

McAvennie claims Man United is the only club that could sign Salah if he leaves the club at the end of next season.

“Is it just about money?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think Man United are the only club who could do it if it is at the end of next season.

“They need a striker and they are a club that is likely to build over the next season.

“You can be sure they will offer what Liverpool aren’t offering. Man City don’t need him, they have Haaland.

“Tottenham have Son. If he wants to stay in the Premier League, I can only see Man United.

“If that’s the only option then Liverpool better offer him what he wants. This whole situation is just bizarre.”

Salah scored 23 goals in the recently-concluded Premier League season.

He shared the top flight’s golden boot award with Heung-Min Son.

In other news, Liverpool have been quoted ‘£150million+’ to sign Son Heung-min by an expert after forward’s exit stance is reported.
