Man United face 'embarrassment' if they don't spend 'serious money' to seal 'new signing' - pundit

Man United must sign some new players this month if they want to finish in the top four.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ top four hopes.

Man United are seventh in the Premier League but could draw level with fourth-placed West Ham if they win their two games in hand.

Under Ralf Rangnick, Man United’s performances have been below-par and they have failed to beat Newcastle and Wolves.

Kenny claims the Red Devils should sign multiple players this month in a bid to freshen up the squad.

“Man United have to do something,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’ve watched their last three or four games and they have been miles off it.

“They won’t make it into the top four at this rate, they look so disjointed.

“It’s a team of individuals and you can’t have that. We had it with Adel Taarabt at QPR, you can get away with one.

“But Man United is a team full of them. I feel they have to spend some serious money this month on a new signing. If they don’t get top four with that squad, it’s embarrassing.

“Something is not right there, new blood can help to just freshen the place up. I think that’s their last chance to go for that top four finish.

“The problem is where do you start? What do they need? I look at them and they need someone everywhere.”

Man United signed Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho in the summer.

They are next in action against Aston Villa on Saturday (15 January).
