'Wow', 'United's year' – Man United fans react to easy Champions League draw

Man United fans have reacted to the easy-looking draw they got for the group stages of the 2017/18 Champions League.

The draw was made live on Thursday afternoon after the final play-off matches had been completed on Wednesday evening, in Monaco.

They were drawn from a tough Pot 2, which also contained Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Man City, and the benefited from the seeding.

They ended up getting an easy-looking group that contains Benfica, Basel and CSKA Moscow.

Fans will be hoping that manager Jose Mourinho can mastermind the club’s third Champions League triumph – the last time they lifted the trophy was in 2007/08.

Five other British teams will be contesting this season’s elite European competition.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Man City, Liverpool and Celtic all found out their fate on Thursday afternoon too, with the latter two teams having to come through qualification.

In other Man United transfer news, Crystal Palace completed a season-long loan deal for Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
