Manchester United fans were left stunned as Jamie Carragher insisted Erik ten Hag could keep his job beyond the end of the season.

The former Liverpool man went on to explain that the Dutchman could have no complaints if he does lose his job after a "horrific" run of form.

But Carragher claimed (live on Sky Sports, 6 May) that the changes behind the scenes at Old Trafford could put potential replacements off of the job.

It was said that the club may not want to bring in a new manager amid plenty of upheaval behind the scenes.

The usual contradiction. The manager has to go because their coaching is poor. But no manager will come in coz the players are poor? Surely if this manager gets the right players then things can improve??

What does Carra mean by ''what new manager?'', it is Man United any manager will of course want to come. Ten Hag may stay but not because there's no manager willing to coach at United.
