Man United have found 'match made in heaven' after confirmed takeover twist - pundit

Frank McAvennie has likened Erik ten Hag to Sir Alex Ferguson for what he is achieving at Man United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ten Hag could be a “match made in heaven”.

Back in November the Glazer family announced that they were open to external parties taking a stake in the club or buying it outright.

On 18 January, Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirmed his interest in a majority takeover of United.

The 70-year-old was among the bidders for Premier League rivals Chelsea when their ownership was up for grabs.

But it seems like the Manchester club could set back any potential owner £7billion, almost triple what Todd Boehly’s consortium paid for Chelsea.

According to the Daily Mail (24 January), it seems the Glazers’ search for investment is likely to result in a full sale of the club but they remain open to other options.

McAvennie insisted Ratcliffe would be a great partner for Ten Hag.

I think Erik ten Hag is there for the long haul,” he told Football Insider.

He has got a bit of Fergie in him. He is not scared to drop people, he is not scared to say what he thinks and that can only be good for the club.

All you want to chairman to do is support the manager. Run the club but support the manager. I think that could be a match made in heaving Jim Ratcliffe and Erik ten Hag.
