Mauricio Pochettino is a “serious and very interesting” option to become the next Man United manager as they look to replace Erik ten Hag, a top club source has told Football Insider.

Pochettino left Chelsea by mutual consent on Tuesday (21 May) after spending just one season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentine has now emerged as a strong candidate to become the United boss after managing almost 300 games in the Premier League with Southampton, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Sources say the 52-year-old is expected to receive offers in the next weeks as he looks to make a return to management in time to start next season.

Mauricio Pochettino could replace Erik ten Hag as Man United manager

Pochettino joined Chelsea last May after spending 18 months at PSG, where he claimed the Ligue 1 title in the 2021-22 season.

He endured a challenging campaign at Stamford Bridge, where he led the club to a sixth-place finish and missed out in the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool.

The Argentine has amassed a 48.7 per cent win rate during his 15-year spell as a manager since taking over La Liga club Espanyol in 2009.

Pochettino has become the latest manager to emerge as a potential option for Man United ahead of Ten Hag’s expected exit once the domestic season comes to an end.

They could, however, face competition from Chelsea after Football Insider revealed on 22 May the west London side have held talks with the Northern Irishman’s representatives about him becoming their new manager
