Sir Jim Ratcliffe is still a long way from cleaning up the awful financial situation at Man United, according to the Daily Mail.

The 72-year-old has inherited an absolute mess from the Glazers, which has seen him strip Old Trafford from wall to wall, creating fury out in the stands due to his hurtful actions in doing so.

Instead of reducing wages on the pitch and getting rid of deadweight from the squad, such as Casemiro, Ratcliffe has already made 300 job cuts at Man United and could make another 200 rather soon.

People's livelihoods are at stake here, and those higher up at Old Trafford seemingly forget this when making such budget cuts, rather than looking at themselves or their own mistakes.

Man United clean-up still three years away

Sources have told the Mail [20 February] that the belief within Old Trafford is it will take no fewer than three years to sort out the current financial mess off the pitch.

It is understood that, due to overspending by the Glazers before passing on the buck to Ratcliffe, United still owe £300million in transfer fees.

Marcus Rashford is on eye-watering wages at Man United, or at least he will be once he returns from Aston Villa, Anthony has flopped at Old Trafford, and signings like Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez just make no sense at all.

Football Insider verdict

Richard Keys has already suggested that Ruben Amorim wants to leave Man United as his team continue to struggle on the pitch, and he receives little back-up from the hierarchy.

Patrick Dorgu was the only senior addition to the squad during the winter transfer window, albeit Ayden Heaven has been implemented into the matchday squad on two occasions.

Until the new manager can implement his own style of football properly, which needs new players to fit, there will be limited improvements on the pitch at Old Trafford.

Supporters are understandably frustrated with some of the performances this season but Amorim can only take a portion of the blame after being thrown into the circus that is Man United.
