Thomas Tuchel and Roberto De Zerbi are both in the frame to be the next Manchester United manager, sources have told Football Insider

Tuchel and De Zerbi feature on a list of possible contenders the Red Devils are assessing in case Erik ten Hag leaves the club.

It’s increasingly likely the Dutchman will head out of the exit door at Old Trafford following the near-catastrophe in the FA Cup semi-final against Championship side Coventry City.

There have been few signs of progression since the 54-year-old joined the club from Ajax in 2022, with Man United 13 points off the Champions League places.

Man United could sack Erik ten Hag

It’s been a largely unconvincing season at Old Trafford under Ten Hag as the Red Devils are currently languishing in sixth place.

Although the victory over Coventry set up an FA Cup final showdown against Manchester City, it proved to be an embarrassment, with the Sky Blues coming back from 3-0 down before suffering eventual heartbreak on penalties.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month Man United chiefs are set to make a decision on the Dutch boss before the end of the season.

The performance against Sheffield United on 24 April is unlikely to have done Ten Hag’s chances of staying on at Old Trafford any favours after the bottom-of-the-table Blades twice went ahead before the Red Devils secured a 4-2 win.

Tuchel will be available to join a new club in a matter of weeks when he leaves Bayern Munich at the end of the season, while De Zerbi continues to attract admirers following his work at Brighton.

Football Insider previously revealed that the Italian is seen as the “stand-out candidate” to take over at Man United as they continue to assess Ten Hag’s position.
